Vision Night 1993

I repeat the words of Jesus to you when he said, "Here's what I'm about." From the time of his ascension to his return in power and splendor, he said, "I basically am going to be about one thing. I'm going to be about the building of my church. The gates of hell will not prevail against it, but I need some people to do it through. Can I count you in?" We have the extraordinary privilege of being counted among the people that Christ is building his church through.

At the end of my talk in a little while, I'm going to ask you to stand. Then I'm going to ask you with your heads bowed to raise your hand, to give indication of whether or not we can count on you to be a part of our corporate mission together this year. It's going to be decision time.

I'm going to ask you to raise your hand or leave it down. We're going to draw a line in the sand and say, "Who's serious, and who's not? Who's kicking tires and who's a buyer? Who means business? Who's blowing smoke? Who just wants to be comfortable and casual, and who wants to be committed and radical?"

You think about that as I talk you through something you've heard me do before. We all need to be refreshed and refocused on what it is we're all about together. Our one-sentence, mission statement is, "Try to turn irreligious people into fully-devoted followers of Christ."
