Description
This light-hearted comedy pokes fun at contrasting priorities in two sisters' relationship to Jesus, as well as our own sometimes-misguided efforts to please Him. Peter asks Mary and Martha to host Jesus and His twelve followers. As Martha hurriedly prepares the house and meal, complete with artichoke dip and spinach puffs, Mary calmly prepares her mind and heart with praise songs and guitar strums. When the guests arrive, Mary is the picture of joy; Martha wears oven mitts and angst. The drama then picks up with Mary and Martha saying goodbye to Jesus and His friends. Mary reflects on His kindness; Martha critiques her role as hostess. But in that subsequent conversation, Martha asks Mary to share His teachings as she grasps that Jesus wants our hearts, not our hectic efforts.
