Frequently Asked Questions

How are Church to Church and GLS Partnership different?

Church to Church relationships are relationships made between under-resourced Compassion International churches and the WCA's network of churches across North America. GLS Partnership relationships are relationships made between under-resourced GLS host countries/churches and the WCA's network of churches across North America.

Can my church be a part of Church to Church and GLS Partnership at the same time?

Yes. If your church is involved in ministry with Church to Church, and connected in a relationship with an under-resourced church, you can also be a part of GLS Partnership by deciding to sponsor or support a GLS in the same country as the church you are already doing ministry with. In this way you can infuse the people and places you already serve with the passion, knowledge, skills and encouragement that they would receive from attending a GLS event.

Who is Compassion International?

Founded by the Rev. Everett Swanson in 1952, Compassion began providing Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education and health care, as well as Christian training. Now Compassion International is a global organization that exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry releasing children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. They accomplish this goal through their Christian holistic child development model. Their model depends on two key partnerships—the local Christian church that delivers their programs in the developing world, and committed U.S.-based churches that enable their members to aid individual children in their program. Through this partnership, one-on-one relationships grow. Today, Compassion International helps more than 1 million children in 26 countries.
